Keiser University students from around the state, the country, and the world attended a graduation ceremony celebrating 40 years of education.

Keiser University proudly kicked-off its 40th year anniversary with a statewide graduation ceremony. There were more than 2,000 guests in attendance to witness over 350 graduates cross the stage. The graduates came not only from across the state of Florida, but also from across the country, as well as internationally, including a graduate from Bangladesh.

“The statewide graduation ceremony is undoubtedly the most fulfilling moment for all of us as we share in the celebration of hard work, accomplishment, and commitment of our students, and their families,” said Belinda Keiser, Vice Chancellor. “At Keiser University, we encourage lifelong learning, leadership, and community service to prepare each individual student to make a real impact in their professions and communities. We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of each of this year’s graduates,” Mrs. Keiser added.

Representative Blaise Ingoglia was the keynote speaker who addressed the graduates during the graduation ceremony. Ingoglia, a resident of Spring Hill, was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in November of 2014 to represent District 35. He also serves as the Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida.

As part of the ceremony, four Florida companies were recipients of the Employer Choice Awards for their continued hiring of Keiser University graduates, as well as their ability to serve as externship/internship sites that allow students the ability to gain the skills needed in today’s workforce. The companies recognized with this honor were: CareerSource Pinellas, Florida Hospital, Lakeland Regional Health, and the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.

The valedictorian for the class of 2016-2017, David Stebbins, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies at the Lakeland campus. Classmates described David as being very active in campus life. The salutatorian, Arthur Mangosing, attended Keiser University’s Tampa campus and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Cyber Forensics/Information Security.

An employee of the university was honored during the ceremony with the Distinguished Service Award. Nominees of this award exemplify how community service is inextricably linked to Keiser University’s mission of exhibiting sustained efforts in public service, demonstrating significant accomplishment and long-term benefits to the community. Cassi Oggero was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. She worked at the Lakeland campus as a Financial Aid officer for over six years and helped launch the Student Veterans of America club at the Lakeland campus. Cassi serves as the club’s staff advisor and actively helps veterans in the Lakeland community.
