Recently released statistics reveal children and teens ages 6 to 17 years old spend at least 6 hours each day watching television during summer vacation; this figure does not account for the amount of time spent playing video games or online. Reasons for this lack of outdoor activity are numerous, as are the results of inadequate fresh air and physical exercise. In an effort to combat this growing trend and its effects, Manny Kaloti of 408 Jump has launched efforts to promote the power of neighborhood inflatable rentals in bringing children back outside.
Said Kaloti, “Today’s youth really feel no need to go outside. Outdoor heat and humidity can’t hold a candle to the comfort of air conditioning. Why would children want to go outside for an impromptu basketball game when they can easily play a virtual one from their living room sofa? Inflatables Bay Area are highly popular at birthday parties and school carnivals, peaking the interest of children of all ages. Neighborhood parents don’t necessarily need a holiday or fund raising event to rent an inflatable. Why not band together and rent a bounce house, obstacle course or interactive game for kids to enjoy?”
Reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate the number of children who are overweight has increased 12 percent over the last 50 years, attributed largely to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle. Waning public interaction is believed to have a correlation to weakened immune systems, causing increased illnesses. Absence of physical activity has also been linked to decreased attention span, lower grades in school and growing incidences of adolescent depression.
It is important to note television and other forms of media are not solely to blame for these occurrences. Society has become progressively more dangerous for young people. Parents are extremely hesitant to allow their children to spend time outside unsupervised to the same extent the youth of 50 years ago were accustomed. Due to this fact, the majority of children are unacquainted with others in their own neighborhoods. Children are less likely to participate in outdoor activities alone than with a group of their peers.
Neighborhood parents can increase the likelihood of their children spending time outside being active by renting inflatables and accessories on occasion. While teens may not be interested in Dora and Diego bounce houses Bay Area, they may be responsive to water slides, sumo wrestling or jousting. Those of any age are certain to enjoy popcorn, cotton candy, slushies and snow cones. In addition to developing a greater tendency to be active and receive the fresh air they need, children may be able to meet and mingle with other children in their neighborhood.
Concluded Kaloti, “Our bounce houses San Jose CA may not be the answer to all the issues keeping children cooped up inside throughout the summer, but they could foster the desire to play outside, encourage new friendships and help decrease the amount of time spent alone in front of the television or computer. Neighborhood adults could pitch in together even once a month to rent inflatables and concessions, and create a block party everyone will enjoy.”
