Known as the Gateway to the Hill Country, soon Dripping Springs, Texas could also bear another official title. Earlier in March the Texas House said “I Do” to a proposal that would designate Dripping Springs with the honorary trademark of the “Wedding Capital of Texas”, while getting Hill Country wedding venues and vendors excited about the announcement.
With over 1,700 weddings in 2014 alone, the small town of about 2,000 residents, Dripping Springs is already estimating 3,000 or more weddings this year; a 50% increase from 2014. Already deemed as a popular wedding destination for local Austin residents, brides-and-grooms-to-be are flocking to this area to celebrate their big day from all over the United States and the world. This small town is gathering so much attention for those looking to say their vows and for good reason. Chamber of Commerce executive director, Sherrie Welch, says that, “…this small town has 36 wedding venues in a 17-mile radius alone.” Most likely the beautiful and serene Hill Country views, it’s rustic charm, and gorgeous sunsets are what drawing couples from all over the place to tie the knot.
