The bike offers a 998cc parallel twin with a four-valve Unicam® cylinder-head design. It is offered with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a new DCT transmission with selectable on- and off-road modes, both versions have ABS standard with rear ABS on/off and Honda.

Honda Africa Twin Accessories
The Happy Trails SU (Structurally Unique) Rack is designed for use with soft or fixed luggage of any type. Perfect for mounting aluminum panniers or soft luggage, GIVI luggage, Pelican cases or any luggage.
The Africa Twin SU rack will feature the Happy Trails own Point1 threaded insert design and welded in Inner Tool Rack mount plate on the non-exhaust side. This design adds to the ease and functionality that Happy Trail pannier systems are famous for.
The Africa Twin rack will offer the highest rigidity and strength of any on the market, featuring 5/8 inch DOM round tubing for the arms, and ¾ square tubing for the SU loop. The added bumper support between the two racks adds strength, stability, and protection.
As expected, the racks are fabricated by expert craftsmen in Boise, ID USA, made specifically to use the existing structural points and design of the Africa Twin.
