Dr Kelly Barbour-Conerty, the author, has written her book from experience. She was living a normal family life with her daughters, making plans and watching them grow everyday. This life was changed when tragically her 16 year old daughter, Lexi, was killed in a car crash on her way to a church youth group meeting.
The Amazon listing explains that Kelly has had to adjust to a new normality without her daughter and has struggled with big questions. These questions have included why has this happened to her child? What should she do with her thing? What about Christmas? These are all natural questions that grieving parents around the world are asking themselves.
Kelly has used this experience to write her new book, which offers advice to other grieving parents. She has experienced the darkness that comes with loss, but she has also experienced the help and kindness that others also in her position have shown to her. She hopes that this book can help others to learn how to survive, heal and have hope again.
According to a recent study nearly nine million children around the world under the age of five die every year. The death of a child is unexpected and seems to go against the natural order of the world and is devastating to families who experience this loss. This book aims to let these parents know that they are not alone in their loss and that they can come through the other side.
