Senior Master Curtis Hammond, an 8th-degree black belt with over 50 years of experience, owner of Grand Rapids Michigan-based Paks Karate, is now offering summer Karate classes to provide activity, structure, and entertainment this summer. Anyone wishing to learn more can do so at: https://www.pakskaratemich.com/.

Master Hammond commented “The martial arts are a great way to keep kids active both mentally and physically over summer vacation. I know that schedules can be chaotic in the summer, and that’s why I offer reduced class prices and a flexible class schedule. We want to make our classes fun for kids, and convenient for parents. We even have mixed adult and child classes so whole families can learn together.

Master Hammond has studied numerous martial arts over the years and teaches Korean style karate (Tang Soo Do) six days a week. He offers classes in the mornings and evenings, as well as private lessons. Master Hammond has a long history of teaching martial arts, and his walls are covered with portraits and stories of successful students.

Paul Dillinger, a parent of two of Master Hammond’s students, had this to say “Last summer I took my girls to a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class at a different school, and my youngest Ellie had a hard time with it. The instructor was great, but she just didn’t enjoy it. After hearing about Master Hammond and learning about his methods, I decided to give it a try again. The first class she cried and didn’t want to go. It wasn’t even five minutes into the class that Master Hammond had her giggling, kicking, and having a blast. She told me that she couldn’t wait to come back.

“I love the changes I’m seeing with her. She's more active, confident, and even listening better. Not only that Master Hammond can get her to focus on the task at hand, something that even her school teachers find challenging. He is truly an amazing teacher, and I’m thrilled to have found him!”

Master Hammond closed by saying, “What sets our program apart is the focus on building the right attitude before working on skills. We use Zig Ziglar’s ‘I Can’ program to help students develop the discipline necessary to power a champion-in-life mindset. Our students learn the ABCs of a martial arts black belt: Attitude, Behavior, and Character. We believe that real confidence comes from having a strong mind, body and spirit!”
