Franklin Yoga Studio, Village Yoga is also a financial angel for those fighting a deadly disease.

Village Yoga, a studio with a huge heart, is not only a small business, it is proving to be a financial angel for those fighting a deadly disease. The locally owned, Franklin based studio is making its mark as a traditional business and as a donation source.

Village Yoga, situated in the heart of historic Franklin Village, has been in business for two years. Long time metro area residents and owners Merrily and MJ McDonald, both who live in long-term recovery, are focused on expanding their growing business, but also on supporting others that are in need. In addition to a weekly “donation” recovery yoga class that supports the local recover community, the McDonald’s take Village Yoga to the next level. The patients at Turning Point Recovery Treatment centers in Pontiac, take part in weekly meditation, gentle yoga and are treated with auricular acupuncture. The Village yoga community has donated much needed clothing and toiletries for The women’s house. “We are thrilled to be in a position to give back in this way and are overwhelmed at the generosity of the community” stated MJ.

Alongside a traditional array of yoga styles offered daily, Village Yoga has its most highly attended donation recovery class every Saturday night. Some pay the donation for a virtual stranger. More than 200 recovering students have learned the benefits of Yoga since 2014. The student base for all the classes pulls from all over the local and metro area. They welcome students of all levels from the “never-evers” to the lifetimers.

Village Yoga welcomes area residents to it’s 1st public event at the Franklin Community Park – 32301 Franklin Rd, Franklin MI – 48025.

To celebrate Village Yoga’s two years in business, Matt and Julia Briest added August 28th to their “QUARTZ OF LOVE TOUR”. The experience includes swaying in a hammock while the sounds of numerous crystals quartz bowls sing and various other instruments are played. Donation yoga classes to benefit turning point recovery centers be offered at 12:30 and 5:30pm. In celebration of Village Yoga’s two years in business, the “Quartz of Love Tour” with the Compassion Sound Healers will be offering the incredible sound bath experience with sessions at 11am, 3pm and 7pm.

The McDonalds’ have a goal to raise enough money to purchase mattresses for the women at turning point recovery centers. They hope to see both their current students as well as many new faces from all over the metro area at their 1st village Yoga event.
