Florida Autism Center for Excellence Partners with Vivint Smart Home

On February 3, 2017, FACE, The Florida Autism Center of Excellence, a home for 100+ students with autism ages 3-22, will unveil two new sensory rooms, a life skills room, and three remodeled classrooms designed and installed by volunteers from Vivint Smart Home, an award-winning smart home technology provider based in Provo, Utah.

FACE is a Hillsborough County Public Charter school that exclusively serves students on the Autism Spectrum. In its 10 years of operations FACE has affected the lives of hundreds of students. The Florida Autism Center of Excellence offers tuition free programing designed to meet the needs of individuals with Autism. Rigorous academic instruction aligned with the state standards is provided in addition to individualized instruction designed to help students achieve their IEP, social, and behavioral goals. FACE is based on the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a scientifically validated approach to understanding behavior and how it is affected by the environment. Through this pairing of ABA and academic content FACE educates students with autism to achieve their highest potential.

Vivint Gives Back, the company’s charitable division, focuses on enhancing the lives of children with intellectual disabilities. One of the ways they are making a difference for these families is by providing smart home technology at a discounted price. The company also installs sensory rooms nationwide that are specifically designed to develop a person’s sense through special lighting, music and sensory objects. The newly renovated classrooms, with multi-sensory play areas, performance space and other learning tools, will encourage tactile learning and social interaction.

The Florida Autism Center of Excellence has been a long-standing cornerstone for families with children with autism in the Tampa Bay area. The school welcomes enrollees for the current year as well as the 2017-2018 school year. For more information visit: www.faceprogram.org.
