Florence ACO Cornhole Tournament in Partnership with Pecan Festival Launched

The American Cornhole Organization has announced the launch of the ACO Pecan Classic Cornhole Tournament November 5, in Florence, South Carolina, at the annual South Carolina Pecan Festival. The tournament is held amid 50,000 in attendance celebrating the Pecan Festival.


The American Cornhole Organization (ACO) has announced the launch of its high-level Cornhole Tournament in downtown Florence, South Carolina, November 5, as part of its annual Pecan Festival. The ACO Pecan Classic Cornhole Tournament, considered an experience of one of the best in cornhole tournaments, is held amid 50,000 visitors a day traveling to enjoy the Pecan Festival.

Established in 2005 and headquartered in Milford, Ohio, the American Cornhole Organization is the governing body for the sport of Cornhole. The ACO offers official cornhole rules, sanctioned products, tournament listings and comprehensive information about cornhole events.


Referred to by many names as corn toss, bean bag, bean toss, soft horseshoes and Indiana horseshoes, to those born and raised in Kentucky and the southern part of Ohio the game is most often referred to as cornhole. Allegedly the game originated in Germany in the 14th century and was rediscovered in Kentucky more than 100 years ago.


The ACO Pecan Classic is held amid the South Carolina Pecan Festival hosted by the Florence Downtown Development Corporation and The City of Florence. The festival is held in Historic Downtown Florence on the 100 blocks of Evans, Irby, Dargan and Cheves streets in the heart of Florence, South Carolina.


The Pecan Festival boasts more than 50,000 in attendance with live entertainment, more than 250 food and craft vendors, special art demonstrations, a free kids zone, amusement rides, an antique tractor show, car show and competition, a cook-off competition, chalk art competition, a 10K, 5k and half marathon, a half metric century bike ride and a special ACO Cornhole Tournament –the ACO Pecan Classic III.


The ACO Pecan Classic is a Doubles Play Format Double Elimination Tournament with Open Play Cornhole Tournaments in between. ACO membership is not required to enter the tournament with a 100 team limit. Tournament winners will enjoy $1,500 cash and prizes. The entry fee is $40 per team in advance or $60 for walk ups.
