Malmo, Sweden / May 12, 2014 / JLV Pictures is seeking £5,500 in pledges to complete Evil Rising, which is now in post-production, for a planned online or theatrical release.

Evil Rising, which offers a fresh new take on independent Swedish horror filmmaking, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.com. Funds raised will be used to cover the costs of post-production phase where the project is currently at.

The first independent Swedish horror film on Kickstarter, Evil Rising tells the story of five paranormal experts who spend a week in a haunted castle. The team is investigating the case of an individual who was institutionalized following a recent tragic event that took place in the historic fortress. As it turns out, the paranormal investigators will need to deal with an ancient evil curse as they uncover the mystery and struggle to make it out of the castle alive. Evil Rising is more like the traditional classic horror movies, such as The Exorcist and Omen, which focuses more on the storyline and less on today's computer generated effects.

Evil Rising the Movie is directed and produced by Jarno Lee Vinsencius, owner of JLV Pictures and producer of music videos for independent artists. In his first attempt to explore independent feature film productions, JLV tapped the expertise of screenwriter Biljana Slavkovic to finish the script. The talented cast and crew, who shared JLV's passion for making feature films, were pooled together through social media.

The project hit a major snag when JLV's local town in Sweden showed an apparent lack of interest in his independent moviemaking plans. JLV and his team then drove to Lubniewice in Poland to shoot the film for 23 days and on a $15,000 budget.

Launched last April 29th, 2014, Evil Rising on Kickstarter seeks to generate £5,500 pledges in 30 days' time, or by May 29th. Currently, the project is nearly halfway through this goal.

"Every single penny (minus all the fees from Kickstarter) will go directly to the sound effects, editing and design department of Evil Rising," said Jarno Lee Vinsencius, "We need a fantastic soundtrack and sound effects. I believe good sound and music is crucial to make a great movie. But if we exceed our goal, we will definitely hire more editors to finish the project quicker!"

Backers of Evil Rising will not only be helping a dream film project come true; they will also be getting rewards for their support. Some of the rewards include props used in this independent horror movie, including the creepy four-foot rope with hangman's knot.
