Dr. Kevin Flood’s Dental Health & Wellness Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan specializes in protecting children and adults from the health dangers of mercury by safely removing amalgam fillings.

Mercury’s harm to the nervous system has been known for more than a century. “It’s shameful that dentists still use mercury dental amalgam and that so many people still have this harmful metal in their mouth,” says Dr. Kevin Flood of Dr. Kevin Flood’s Dental Health & Wellness Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. “My holistic dental practice removes mercury safely and uses healthy filling alternatives for adults and children.”

Throughout the world, efforts are underway to phase out, or completely eliminate, the use of mercury dental amalgam also known as “silver fillings.” A report released this month by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology confirms that dental amalgam containing mercury appears to contribute significantly to “mercury body burden,” and that exposure can cause harm to susceptible people – especially children.

The report entitled New science challenges old notion that mercury dental amalgam is safe, also concludes that many Americans with dental amalgam fillings are exposed to unsafe levels of mercury vapor according to established industry standards.

“We’re concerned because mercury appears to be the most biochemically plausible explanation for many mysterious conditions, from developmental disorders to neurodegenerative conditions,” explains Kristin Homme, lead author of the report.

Dr. Flood specializes in the safe removal of amalgam fillings to reduce mercury toxicity. He is one of only a few dentists in the Grand Rapids area who can safely execute the procedure using stat-of-the-art mercury removal equipment and protocols that respect the environment.

“My focus is on the overall health and wellness of my patients,” says Dr. Flood. “I don’t just give my patients a beautiful smile, I also protect them from harmful exposure to toxins by replacing amalgam fillings with non-toxic dental material.
