Business executive Des Hague is excited to announce that he is the newest member of the board of directors for The Stamford Youth Foundation (SYF), a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit company focused on child-based initiatives and programs in the surrounding area. Hague is a celebrated leader with over 25 years of experience guiding companies like North American event hospitality firm Centerplate into continued success. His principal area of responsibility will remain on fundraising, chairing the corporate donations campaign to fuel additional income toward SYF course development.As a result of his ongoing work in not-for-profits and charities, Hague has assisted countless organizations raise money toward their collective goal of realizing their missions. Hague’s unfaltering dedication to community service and volunteerism will directly contribute to new initiatives within the Stamford Youth Foundation. An avid supporter of the SYF for several years, Hague has expressed his enthusiasm to be elevated into the position of a board member.
Founded in 2001, the Stamford Youth Foundation offers young people a variety of character-building activities to help them reach their full potential. “The foundation started out as a middle school football and cheerleading development organization,” tells Hague. “But the immense public response throughout Stamford prompted SYF founders Marc Lyons and Greg Dempsey to expand the extracurricular options far beyond their original scope.” Additional benefits include two academic programs – the Odyssey of the Mind creative problem-solving course series as well as ongoing chess meetings. Furthermore, health and nutrition workshops are also available to reinforce the importance of regular exercise and mindful eating.
Special emphasis is placed on assisting disadvantaged children with scholarship opportunities for economically struggling families. With over 2500 active students, including approximately 800 receiving scholarships or other financial assistance, the core SYF objectives are to unite and encourage diversity by working toward common goals and to support all members in building their confidence, self-respect and a strong work ethic. Des Hague is looking forward to serve on the board of SYF and hopes to continue its solid growth pattern into even more options and availability to students in and around the Stamford region.
