The Louisiana medical dermatology center has released a new website to better serve patients, reports Dr. Kristy R. Kennedy

Dermatology Center of Acadiana, a medical, cosmetic, and Surgical Dermatology Clinic, has announced the release of their new website. The new site has been redesigned and is now packed with information about the services provided, according to Dr. Kennedy, one of the three Medical Dermatology Specialists who share the practice.

"We completely revamped our previous website in order to make it more useful to our patients," said Kennedy. "We wanted it to be more than just a place to advertise our name and phone number. The new website not only introduces our practice; it also serves as an educational resource for our patients."

One of the biggest changes to the website, besides the overall design, is the addition of detailed information about the specific services the physicians and their staff provide. Divided into the three categories of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, the "services" tab introduces a wide variety of conditions the doctors treat and procedures they perform. "Many people tend to put off seeing a dermatologist," commented Kennedy. "Some may not consider a skin problem a serious enough concern, while others are afraid of procedures that may sound painful or potentially scarring. We hope that the information we've posted gives patients a realistic idea of what to expect and allays their worst fears."

Some of the medical conditions commonly treated by the dermatologists at Dermatology Center of Acadiana include eczema, acne, rosacea, psoriasis, warts, moles, and skin cancer. The most common surgical procedures, according to the website, are skin cancer removal, mole removal, cyst removal, and the destruction of benign and premalignant lesions. Cosmetic procedures include Botox, facial fillers, chemical peels, and laser treatments for such purposes as hair removal and removal of sun spots, birthmarks, and other pigmented lesions.

The new website also introduces the staff with photographs and brief bios. In addition to the three physicians, Dr. Kennedy, Dr. Penton, and Dr. Dupree, there is also an esthetician on staff, Meredith Boudreaux, who performs a wide variety of Cosmetic Dermatology procedures, including chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser treatments to improve the texture or pigmentation of the skin.

Patients can now book appointments online. New patients can also download required paperwork, print it out, and complete it before their appointment.
