In a recent podcast interview, Jodie Thompson and Natalie Smith, publishers of the iTunes magazine 'House Sitting World' revealed how much they have reduced their annual living expenses by traveling the world living rent free."In our first year we traveled from Dubai to London to France, then Canada, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru for a mere total of $5,200 spent on flights and transport costs for the two of us" Thompson reveals, "that is exactly one third of the annual rent we paid for a one bedroom apartment!"
The couple were shocked at how little they had spent in the year of rent free living where they provided free house and pet sitting services for home owners in 7 different Countries.
"Everyone still needs to buy groceries every week, so we did not include these costs, but being able to cook in a fully equipped kitchen definitely added to our savings of expenses especially when normal travel can be expensive if having to eat out all the time" Smith added.
Since launching their iTunes magazine app, the pair have been busy communicating with and educating those interested in taking part in this unique lifestyle through the fast growing Facebook group they host.
"So many people are waking up to the fair exchange that free house sitting has to offer" says Thompson "and our job is to continue to highlight the advantages of this reciprocity movement that is spreading around the world and to showcase owners and sitters inside the 'House Sitting World' magazine app each and every month."
The magazine app is currently only available for Apple devices but the pair have plans to release the magazine to Android, Kindle and other mobile devices as soon as possible.
Thompson and Smith have established themselves as authority figures for this new trend in travel and are available for interviews and expert opinions. Their next house sitting assignment takes them to the Caribbean Island of Barbados for 6 weeks and with wifi, they continue to work online creating the entertaining and informative 'House Sitting World' and supporting their Facebook Community of over 1500 members.
