Third Rock, an eco-conscious brand, wants to encourage people to reduce the amount of waste they send to landfills. The brand says that its kitchen compost bucket has a unique feature for eliminating the bad smells that are associated with composting waste indoors: an in-lid charcoal filter that keeps odors and flies away until the compost material is emptied into the outside compost pit.

The lid secures the contents in the bucket, and as a plus, the inside of the lid is coated with a charcoal filter that prevents any smells from oozing out into the kitchen or the entire house,” the spokesperson adds. “And the buckets can be used with or without liners because they are easy to clean.”
“When I first opened the bin, I was a bit skeptical about the claims made about it keeping things odor & fly free, as the lid doesn’t have a gasket or latch to keep it secure. After using it for almost a month and a half now, I must say I’m thoroughly impressed. We’ve had zero problems with odors – even when there are herbs that were used for tea in it (if you’ve ever smelled 2-3-day old used nettle, you’ll understand how amazing that is). It’s also very easy to clean if you decide not to use a compostable liner, and it looks great on the counter,” comments a happy buyer.
