Click-A-Brick has launched their latest building block set, a 30-piece insect-inspired offering called Bug’s Life. The set is capable of building five different insects and the company hopes parents can use it as a teaching tool for helping their children learn about insects.

Click-A-Brick has announced the launch of its newest building block set, the insect-themed 30-piece Bug’s Life, which will be available on Amazon in both the United States and United Kingdom Amazon sites, and will be available on the Click-A-Brick website soon.

The Bug’s Life set includes blocks of black, brown and green and also comes with a pair of eyes. The set includes instructions for building a number of different insects. As with all Click-A-Brick sets, Bug’s Life is compatible with other sets from the company and children are encouraged to mix and match the sets to come up with their own creations.

With Click-A-Brick’s other 30-piece animal-themed sets routinely being among the top sellers for the company, an insect-themed set seemed to be the most obvious choice to release for the building block company, Co-Founders Jason Smith and Georg de Gorostiza say, as children love animals and insects always seem to fascinate them. The insects featured in Bug’s Life should especially be fascinating for kids in the US and UK markets, as they include insects that those kids don’t get to see everyday, like rhinoceros beetles. The dramatic appearance of the big beetles with their prominent horns and pincers makes them a perfect fit for the set and should get kids excited about building them and learning about them, the company founders say.

“We think this set will be a hit with kids,” Smith said. “They can build a couple of different beetles -- big, cool looking beetles -- a dragonfly, a grasshopper and a cicada. And parents can, of course, use the set as a teaching tool to introduce their kids to the world of insects. Kids are fascinated with animals and insects are like a whole new realm of animals for them to explore. We might even inspire some future entomologists out there. And once they’ve mastered putting together the insects in the instructions, they can start looking up other insects and building those.”

As with all of the company’s sets, the co-founders hope that parents use the Bug’s Life set in conjunction with other teaching materials like books and general observation of the real world to help their children learn about insects.

The toy company is pleased to be able to release sets on a regular basis now, the co-founders say and Click-A-Brick already has its plans throughout 2016 solidified with what sets will be released in each quarter. Those plans include sets that have robotic capabilities, among other things.
