Summer is home improvement time. Industry experts discuss how to make bathroom cleaning more efficient.

With the summer being a popular time for home improvement projects, industry experts look at how to make home remodeling more efficient and give some tips on effective home improvement. This time around Ron Wingler, Pam Markland, and Joey Strong, owners of cleaning and bathroom remodeling companies, agreed to share some valuable advice on effective bathroom cleaning.

“Your bathroom is one of the most used areas in a house,” says Wingler, who has been in the bathroom remodeling business for several decades. “Even the most beautiful bathroom with the best tile, sinks, shower cabin, and bath tubs gets dirty. Never underestimate the importance of proper bathroom maintenance. After all, good care adds several years of life to your bathroom floor and walls.”

Indeed, accumulating mold may potentially destroy tile grit and make the environment of the room extremely unhealthy. Hard water may be harmful to the bathtub and sink surfaces. Therefore, timely cleaning paired with some quality materials is an essential part of every home improvement project.

“I always suggest spraying showers with all-purpose bathroom cleanser,” says Markland, who owns a cleaning company in West Chester, Ohio. “The easiest way is to spray shower after every use.”

While residential bathroom cleaning is oftentimes a very straightforward procedure, cleaning bathrooms in commercial spaces may be a little more challenging.
“About 70 percent of people say that the cleanliness of a bathroom is a very important factor, and about 95 percent may avoid visiting an establishment if the bathroom is not clean,” said Strong, who has been running a commercial cleaning service in Durham, NC since 2005. “And yet, too many businesses underestimate the importance of maintaining clean restrooms. However, all it takes is just spraying all of the areas with sanitizer, starting with the bathroom entrance and making your way around the room, cleaning mirrors and sinks, scrubbing the inside of toilet bowls with a scrubber brush, and mopping the floors.”

According to Strong, some companies that cannot afford hiring commercial cleaning or janitorial services are losing a lot of money by not being presentable to their clients.

These easy cleaning tips may be useful while tackling another home improvement project, or during the regular home cleaning.
