The aftermath of the shooting of Cecil, Zimbabwe’s most famous wild lion has caused an online mob, including that of celebrities, to verbally attack the man who paid $50,000 to hunt it – but it has also inspired some to do more towards helping animals in need.A new start-up, Funky Candles, already see that proceeds from the candles go to charities and in the aftermath of Cecil the lion, the company has introduced a new charity, Four Paws, as one of their latest beneficiaries. Funky Candles create scented candles with a little twist in that they are named around aromas based on animals, making the ideal surprising gift for animal lovers. Candles on offer from the company include scents such as ‘Big Bunny Fart’ and ‘Squirrel’s Nuts’. The scents have been hilariously titled to give recipients a laugh when they first receive the candle, but then are surprisingly pleasant once the candles are lit.
Four Paws is an international animal welfare charity working towards a world where all humans treat animals with the respect, understanding and empathy they deserve. The charity focuses on campaigning for better conditions for animals used by humans, whether farm animals, laboratory animals or companion animals, as well as coming to the aid of endangered or abused wild animals like foxes and badgers.
