Career Institute of Technology (CIT) has recently been selected for the 2015 Best Businesses of Round Rock Award in the Specialty Schools category. The institute offers a variety of healthcare and technology programs to students locally in the classroom or worldwide online.

“We are excited to receive this award and believe that it shows that we are meeting our student’s needs,” said Marcus Perkins, M.Ed., Campus President. “Many people are looking for a change in careers and we have developed industry approved programs to make that happen.”

The Best Businesses of Round Rock Award Program identifies local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Currently offered programs include a variety of flexible in-person and online training opportunities, including night and weekend classes.

Their Nurse Aide Training Program is taught in the classroom by qualified instructors and is a five-week program to complete with enrollment starting on a monthly basis. Graduates will be well prepared to use their skills and knowledge for giving safe and quality healthcare to their clients. Potential work locations could include home health, hospice, long-term care, physician offices, hospitals, clinics and assisted living facilities.

CIT also administers several online programs that can be taken from anywhere in the world. They include an Online Pharmacy Technician Program with classes starting monthly, and an Online Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) Program with classes starting weekly.

“CIT utilizes blended learning approaches, the latest Electronic Learning Management System tools, cooperative education training, and advanced program scheduling to ensure the students success in the fulfillment of the academic program,” said Richard Pisano, Program Director for the Biomedical Technology Program.

The Pharmacy Technician Program will prepare graduates to provide assistance to customers and patients specific to the pharmacy practice setting, as well as to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification board.

Students that complete the six-month BMET certificate program will have the knowledge to become employed in the diverse field of medical equipment technology.

CIT was founded in 2010 with the primary purpose of serving students, industry and the community. Faculty and support staff are available to assist students with admission, finances, certificate plans and career planning.
