Campaign Helps Local Businesses That are Struggling to Stay Open

More and more small businesses are closing down in local communities, and there is now a grassroots effort to send more business their way.

Arroyo Grande, CA – April 28, 2015 – Imagine being able to buy only what some executive in Arkansas thinks the public should have. That’s what is happening to Americans all over the country as the small retailers they are used to dealing with are being forced to shut down. Choice, freedom, and quality suffer greatly when people’s choices are limited, and they only have the large corporations to depend on for the products they need.

Unfortunately, this is exactly what is happening in towns and cities all over America. With the new minimum wage laws and pressure to provide insurance to employees, many small businesses are struggling to make a profit, and many of them are simply closing their doors. These very businesses positively impact a huge amount of people in local economies, and their customers are sad to see their favorite businesses dying a slow and uncalled for death.

But new campaigns are springing up all over the country to try and save the small businesses from closure. These campaigns encourage people to think local first are being initiated by the Small Business Association in order to educate the public about how important it is to shop locally. The campaigns ask consumers to support their local vendors whenever possible. “It is difficult to see the impact small businesses have on the community until they close,” a spokesman from FindUsLocal.com a USA local business directory says. “The materials or goods that the small businesses offer in their stores were likely bought from another local manufacturer, who has local employees working there. So when a business closes its doors, it exponentially impacts several layers of the community.” In addition, when people purchase their products locally, more money stays in their community as opposed to funding a large corporation, which is probably located in another city or state.

Organizers of the campaigns also want consumers to realize that when they buy local, it will help keep their communities unique. By turning to local business directories, consumers can do their part in the campaign by finding local businesses to do business with, rather than simply going to the corporate big box store in their neighborhood. And that, says organizers, is the thrust of their campaign. “We want to preserve the uniqueness of cities and towns all over the nation, and help local businesses stay open. It will be good for the community, for the people who work in these businesses, and for the local economy.”
