Bullies Don't Rule! announced today they are raising funds to donate Anti Bullying books to foster children.
Bullies Don't Rule! author, 11 year old Nicholas Bold, said he admires the Barnados Children's Charity and the work they do helping foster children. He said he is thrilled to be able to give to an organisation that has given so much and done so much good over the years.
Nicholas is hoping to help between 100 – 200 foster children by giving them a copy of Bullies Don't Rule! People can donate money to help these ‘at risk' children and provide them with a copy of this essential anti-bullying book. Bullies Don't Rule! teaches kids and parents/carers how to deal with bullying through a collection of short stories and a parents resource section.
Bullying can affect everyone—those who are bullied, those who bully, and those who witness the bullying. Not to mention the parents, carers and family members of a bullied child. Bullying is linked to many long term negative outcomes including impacts on mental health, substance abuse, eating disorders and in the worst cases, suicide. It is important to talk to children about bullying before it becomes a problem.
Jaclyn Bold, Nicholas' mum, says “Make your home a safe haven, a place where kids can ask you anything and I really mean anything. Let your kids know that they can ask/tell you anything no matter how big or small, and while you may be angry with them, you will always love them and help them. If your kids can't tell you the small stuff, they are never going to feel they can tell you the ‘big' things that are happening to them.”
