The globally recognized and biggest Latin Festival in the North East will be returning on June 13, 2015, for its 30th anniversary. The 116th Street Festival will host various music, fun, art, and food influenced by the Puerto Rican and Hispanic culture, with an added extra spark of excitement as the festival celebrates its 30th year celebration.

Event-goers from around the country are expected to gather at this year’s festival, which anticipates more than 200,000 guests. People of all ethnicities and backgrounds are welcome to join in the fun, learn about Hispanic culture, and enjoy a family friendly outing.

The 116th Street Festival started in 1985 as ‘Abrazo Fraternal’ and has grown to encompass 20 blocks, and on the day of the festival, people for miles will hear the sounds hispanic and various music and smell the aromas of mouthwatering hispanic dishes. The famous festival continues to bring an economic advantage to the neighborhood as well as offer a communal atmosphere for hispanics and anyone who wishes to learn more about the fun-loving culture that boasts decadent music, food, and more.

The 30th anniversary of the festival will offer guest celebrity appearances and musical performances on the La Mega 97.9 and Amor 93.1 stages. The Lega Mega Stage located at 112th and 3rd will feature Tito El Bambino, Tito Puente JR, Reggaeton Artist Tempo, Las Guanabanas, Jory, Viva Mas, the one and Only Alex Sensation, DJ Lobo, Candela, a Celebrity guest appearance by Luis Guzman and more. The Amor stage located at 106th and 3rd will feature the legendary Polito Vega, Freestyle Artist George Lamond, Pop/R&B Artist Tony Sunshine, Lumidee, Charlie Y Enrique, Rachel Lorin, Pop Boy Band Sensation IM5, Summit 103,

Zaweso Del Patio, and many more. This year, the legendary Maurice Starr (who created New Edition and New Kids On The Block) will be presenting on stage, his new rising Boy Band; NK5. One of the many special invited guests includes CBS ‘Code Black’ star, Luis Guzman. The 116th Street Festival offers various performances, new and classic Hispanic foods, and a fun, electrified atmosphere that will be amplified by the added celebration of a third decade of the festival.

Aside from musical performances, this year’s festival will honor multiple acts with a Talent Recognition Award for their continued support in the arts. The honorees include Tito Puente JR, Lumidee, Candela, and Tony Sunshine.

This year’s 116th Street Festival is sponsored by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, La Voz Newspaper, McDonald’s, La Voz Hispana, AT&T, Colgate Palmolive, Monster Energy Drink, U.S. Army, Bimbo Bakeries, La Mega 97.9, Amor 93.1, and many others.
