A weekly phone meeting for 12 step addiction recovery based on the Bible will commence this Wednesday, announced HB Publications, which is facilitating the meetings. HB Publications released the book “For I Will Be With You – Daily Reflections on Recovery from the Bible” earlier this year.“This meeting is intended for people of faith who may benefit from including the Bible in their 12 step recovery work,” said Boruch Binyamin, author of “For I Will Be With You.” “While AA is very rightly non-sectarian by design, some people may be further helped by finding a connection between their religious faith and the process of doing recovery step work.”
The phone meeting is scheduled for every Wednesday at 12 noon, east coast time. The meeting will follow the template of an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting but base discussion on a daily Biblical verse taken from “For I Will Be With You.” The phone meeting is free and anonymous. “For I Will Be With You” takes the reader through the first five Books of the Bible (The Torah, or Pentateuch). It offers 365 daily sequential verses and an accompanying recovery-oriented interpretation. The title of the book comes from Exodus 3:12. In this verse, God tells Moses “For I will be with you” when God instructs Moses to tell Pharaoh to free the Israelites from slavery. According to author, this verse may resonate with the idea of having faith that “God is with you” in recovery – asking for freedom from the “slavery” of a powerful addiction.
