Golden State Governor Jerry Brown recently put his seal of approval on Assembly Bill 2349, which mandates that cases involving California be handled by the Superior Court there, even if the gestational carrier resides here in Nevada, or anywhere else in the country for that matter.

The laws in Nevada are generally friendly to the surrogacy process and protect all the parties involved, but not every state operates this way. These new laws will not affect most Nevada cases, but given the close proximity, there will be some carryover. Thankfully, California’s laws are fairly straightforward and make for largely airtight cases, so even the cases that do involve these new laws are not likely to be impacted in a negative way.
