Not so surprising is the fact that many people struggle with geography. If a reporter asked someone where Attu Island is located, most would shake their heads in doubt, probably wondering if Attu Island actually exists on this planet. Of course, if the same reporter asked them about a famous landmark in their home country, most could answer readily. Or would they again shake their heads in puzzled bewilderment. AOL Travel’s latest interactive quiz shed light on the subject and the results were surprising!AOL Travel UK’s New Interactive Quiz polled residents of Great Britain about some of the most famous British Landmarks. The quiz’s authors, rental company, Holiday Cottages, presumed the country’s residents would score well, likely in the 100 percent range. Surprisingly though the landmarks in question are well known worldwide, their specific geographic location remains a mystery to many, even the residents of Great Britain.
Now, while some British citizens might be perplexed by the location of Cheddar Gorge or Sandringham Castle, the results showed nearly half of the Brits polled were unable to pinpoint on a map famous landmarks like Loch Ness and Stonehenge. Only 52 percent were able to locate Yorkshire Dales, 56 percent correctly placed York Minster and shockingly on 75 percent knew that Edinburg Castle was located in Edinburg!
