An American Artist may Soon be Back on Top of the List of “The World’s Most Expensive Paintings" as Billionaire Art Collectors Around the Globe Jump at the Chance to Own the Rare Jackson Pollock “Drip Art”.

As Wealthy Art Collectors around the Globe jump at the chance to own the rare Jackson Pollock “Drip Art”, the sale will likely put the American Artist back on Top of the List of “The World’s Most Expensive Paintings”. The long time former leader could break his previous Record set at $140 Million back in 2006.

An American Treasure is causing a bidding war amongst Billionaire art collectors. “Every drop of paint is worth about ten thousand dollars” an insider close to the deal explains. Doing the math recent sales of Pollock’s paintings have put a price tag of $87,878 per square inch on his drip art style paintings. “Art is the new currency of the super rich,” the insider says, and continues “Everybody in America who can afford a Pollock wants to own one”. Pollock, who is often dubbed “Jack-the-Dripper” in the art world, died in a drunken car crash in 1956. It was reported that Pollock was with another woman at the time of the crash while his wife, Lee Krasner, a famous artist in her own right, was away in Paris.

“We are confident that as more collectors are made aware of this painting, the price will continue to climb,” states the insider. “The artwork measures 36 x 54 inches, which equates to 1,980 square inches of canvas. With that amount of canvas, it would not surprise us if the sales price climbed as high as $160 million. If it gets anywhere close to that number, it will be absolutely amazing,” he says. When asked whether there are any concerns about the authenticity of the painting, the insider replies “We put the painting through very stringent Mathematical and Biological Testing which has proven the authenticity of the piece without question”. The applied testing method made national news with its ability to accurately spot an authentic Pollock. A recent article in the International Journal of Arts and Technology reported that the test “has demonstrated 93 to 100 percent accuracy in spotting true Pollocks”. The testing method was invented and developed by Professor Dr. Lior Shamir of the Department of Math and Computer Science at Lawrence Technical University who said in an interview with The Scientista Foundation that “…Pollock’s drip paintings can also be explained by equations.”

The painting, owned by a group of private art collectors in California, hits the art world at the right time. The market is red hot and Pollock’s paintings are extremely rare. “It was purchased from a thrift shop decades ago”, the insider explains. “Pollock was well known to trade goods and services for his art work, so it was no surprise that it ended up there less than a hundred miles from his studio where the piece was created”, he says. Pollock was a struggling artist until he introduced his drip art style paintings in 1946. All of Pollock’s drip art style paintings were done on the floor of his East Hampton, New York studio. When asked about who has owned the painting since its thrift shop days, the insider says “It has had a rich history of owners since then”. In 2007, Teri Horton, a truck driver also from California, made world news when she purchased a Jackson Pollock painting from a thrift shop for five dollars and later sold the painting for a reported $50 million.
