On Friday, January 20th Love-A-Thon was Live Streamed on Facebook during Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. UpWorthy sponsored this three-hour, celebrity-packed telethon to raise money for Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and Earthjustice.

Love-a-Thon was the brainchild of Alex Godin, a 23-year-old tech entrepreneur. It was hosted by comedian Judah Friedlander, and included an impressive lineup of volunteers from each of the participating organizations. Among them were Dale Ho, director of the ACLU’s Voter Rights Project; Lisa Garcia, the Vice President of Litigation for Healthy Communities at Earthjustice; and Dr. Leslie Kantor, the Vice President of Education at Planned Parenthood.

The event also featured pre-taped entertainment, skits, and musical performances from across the country. Among the many celebrities passionately involved in this activism were Jane Fonda, Judd Apatow, Tim Robbins, Misha Collins, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Jillian Michaels, Chelsea Handler, David Duchovny, Martin Sheen, and George Takei.

The American Movie Company was proud to donate all of the WebCasting equipment, and its socially conscious crew offered their services for the telethon. Bill Milling was on set as production coordinator. Jason Gillet and Phil Fleischer operated the TriCaster. Arié Ohayon served as DP with Lou Blackmon and Loni Gest as camera operators. RJ Yenesel was the production’s sound mixer, and Elle Kyle became an impromptu AD when the slated person called in sick. Parm and Carm, two of AMC’s stellar producers, ran the production office.

The fundraiser was a great success, raising nearly $200,000. “We all had a good time on this project, despite the hectic task of coordinating the many guest transitions. We had to rearrange our schedule on the spot to accommodate theirs. However, in the end, it all ran smoothly on camera, and that is our top priority,” Elle Kyle commented. Elle detailed her experiences on set in a blog post.

In addition to WebCasting, American Movie Company offers a variety of video production services across the nation, including Green Screen Studios, Teleprompter and Interrotron Rentals. Central offices are located in NYC, LA and Miami. They have been involved in high profile location shoots including Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones and Lucky Number Slevin, among others.
