Legends of the Fog, Maryland's premier haunted attraction, marks ten years of fear with major updates for each of its four experiences. With a number of new scenes added to what many have called "the scariest haunted hayride in MD, DC, and PA," visitors can be sure of fresh sources of fright as they flee a zombie horde. "They" are still out to get Legends of the Fog adventurers who dare enter the Cornstalkers Maze, with an expanded layout making things even creepier.

The traditional haunted house has evolved into something even more frightening, as the Farewell Haunted Hotel does everything in its bloodthirsty power to keep guests from leaving. Fan-favorite Sinister Circus has also grown even scarier, with a brand-new Twisted Maze adding to the sideshow freakishness that sends so many fleeing for their lives. This year's Legends of the Fog will culminate in a special Blackout Weekend on Nov. 4 and 5, with pitch darkness descending mercilessly throughout to provoke unprecedented fear. "For ten years now, Legends of the Fog has been the scariest haunted attraction in the state," a representative said, "We've always prided ourselves on going further than anyone else to produce blood-curdling fear in our visitors. Long a fixture of the weeks surrounding Halloween, haunted attractions have become big business nationwide in recent decades. 2013 reports from the Haunted Attraction Association estimated annual revenues at around $300 million, a number that has almost certainly grown quite a bit since.
