Events in Ark., La., Okla., and Texas in March and April will give blue and purple belt Brazilian jiu jitsu competitors shots at entry to $8,000 Invitational, American Grappling Federation reports

The American Grappling Federation, a leading organizer of submission grappling arts competitions, announced a schedule of five qualifiers for the group's 2015 Blue and Purple Belt Brazilian jiu jitsu invitational tournament. Taking place in Little Rock, Ark.; Lafayette, La.; Tulsa, Okla.; and Dallas and Houston, Texas, during March and April, the five individual BJJ tournaments will allow division winners and runners-up to compete for $8,000 in prizes to be awarded at the Blue and Purple Belt Invitational tournament to be held May 16 of this year in Dallas. The American Grappling Federation is one of the country's fastest-growing and most respected organizers of tournaments for the grappling arts, having received a number of awards and distinctions for its work.

"After the fantastic success of our 2014 tournament circuit, we are excited to announce the details of our qualifiers for the upcoming 2015 Blue and Purple Belt Invitational," American Grappling Federation representative Chris Carlino said, "There is no better way for Blue and Purple belt adult Brazilian jiu jitsu practitioners to test their skills and progress than by competing against others in our fun, well-organized tournaments, so we expect that the response will be as enthusiastic as ever."

Founded in 2011, the American Grappling Federation has a mission of providing well-organized, professionally overseen grappling arts tournaments for people of all ages and experience levels. The group's devotion to delivering high-quality, affordable experiences has made it a standout in the industry, earning its events awards such as designation as "Best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament in Texas" by the popular site TXMMA.com.

The American Grappling Federation's 2015 Blue and Purple Belt Invitational, scheduled for May 16, 2015 in Dallas, will bring together beginning and intermediate students of Brazilian jiu jitsu who have qualified to compete through one of the five just-announced tournaments. The submission only BJJ tournament will include a total of $8,000 in prizes, an especially impressive sum for a contest limited to Blue and Purple ranked practitioners.

The schedule of upcoming qualifying events includes a tournament in Tulsa, Okla. on March 15; one on March 29 in Lafayette, La.; one on April 11 in Dallas; another on April 18 in Little Rock, Ark.; and a final qualifier on April 25 in Houston. There will be 8 divisions for competitors at each event, broken down by gender, belt color, and weight, with the dividing line for women being 140 pounds and 180 pounds for men on the day of the tournament.

A full list of AGF tournament rules can be found at the American Grappling Federation website, along with details about each of the qualifying events. Competitors in the qualifying tournaments and the Invitational will be required to wear conforming Brazilian jiu jitsu gi uniforms, and will engage in 10-minute, submission only matches. In the event of matches finishing without submissions, both competitors will be eliminated unless one possesses a superior advantage tally, awarded for strong submission attempts.

Those interested in any of the upcoming blue and purple belt Brazilian jiu jitsu qualifiers can find further information and register online at the American Grappling Federation website. Registration fees for the qualifiers are $40, and those who place first or second in each division will gain entry to the upcoming Invitational in Dallas on May 16. Each qualifier will be a single elimination event, but participants can enter as many qualifiers as they would like.
