Adopt A Class Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to pairing classrooms in underserved urban schools with local business and community groups, is the recipient of a $1,000 gift from The Business Backer. The gift will be used to further the Adopt A Class mission, which is to connect members of the business community with children in some of neediest urban schools in Greater Cincinnati through mentoring relationships that help develop career and college readiness skills and behaviors.
“This is just one example of how the Adopt A Class program partners with the business community to invest in youth. This partnership leads to bigger academic advancements for our students and, ultimately, transformative change for us all,” said Katie Burroughs, Executive Director of Adopt A Class. “Children are the best capital we have and it is exciting to have The Business Backer as an investor in the future of our community.”
The Business Backer joined the AAC program in August of 2013 and adopts a 2nd Grade class at John P Parker, a Cincinnati Public School located in Madisonville, where approximately 90% of the population is economically disadvantaged. “The satisfaction on our employees’ faces as we bring a little bit of joy to our class is undeniable,” said Scott Avera, Chairman and Co-Founder of The Business Backer. “We strive every day to make a positive difference for our small business customers and partners nationwide, and we are very proud to extend that positive change to young students right here in our own backyard. We look forward to a long and rewarding relationship with the Adopt A Class Foundation.”
