Drug addiction affects millions of individuals across America, and has been credited with dire health, cultural and socio-economic consequences, and is strongly linked to crime and delinquency. It is not however a criminal offence, but a clinical condition to suffer addiction to drugs, and this means in order to prevent addicts becoming criminals, they must be treated by clinical professionals, undergoing therapies and treatments. Addiction Jobs Board is a great new opportunity for substance abuse professionals to find vacancies across the US, and has been set up by someone with over 10 years in recovery.
The website was a way to give back to the many professionals that had helped the site’s webmaster, now a professional web designer, to turn her back on drugs and stay clean. The more addiction professionals there are and the more opportunities they are given, the better for addicts everywhere.
The site allows individuals to review job postings for freelance, full time, internship, part time and temporary positions, making opportunities available for all levels of experience, and individuals can search by state, job role (for instance substance abuse counselor) or most recently posted jobs. Clicking the role title will give a full job description with information on hours, salary and benefits, and give candidates the opportunity to apply with their resume.
A spokesperson for Addiction Jobs Board explained, “We have only been active 30 days, but in that time we have seen more than five hundred unique visitors to the site and have amassed over 1,200 likes on our Facebook page, where we link to most of our job alerts so that people can get opportunities directly within their social media feeds. We are overwhelmed by the support and encouragement we have found within this niche, not least because we are headed by a web designer with over a decade in recovery who is passionate about connecting quality professionals with quality roles.”
