Dr. Webb Garrison, Academic Dean Of Southwestern College, Announces That He Will Be Stepping Down From His Post To Pursue New Career Opportunities.

Dr. Webb Garrison, Academic Dean of Southwestern College in Santa Fe, recently announced that he will be stepping down from his current position with the school to return to New York. Garrison came to Southwestern in 2011 after many years in New York as a psychologist with an array of patients. His career saw him working in clinical, research and academic settings, and always with a focus on integrating traditions and therapeutic arts with modern practices.

“We feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity to work with Dr. Garrison for these past few years,” says Dr. Jim Nolan, President of Southwestern College. “His passion for integrating spiritual, psychological, and educational principles to positively impact individuals and communities has always aligned well with the school motto of Transforming Consciousness through Education.”

The position of Academic Dean is both vital to a college, but also very demanding. A dean must be both educator and administrator, and in an institution such as Southwestern College, where spirituality and a holistic environment are part of the appeal and curriculum, it is also a position unique from their peers at many other universities.

“I would just like to extend appreciation, on behalf of all of us here at Southwestern College, to Dr. Garrison for his years of work,” concludes Dr. Nolan. “We wish him well on all his future endeavors, and, given his skills and passion for his work we feel that he will succeed in whatever form the next step of his career takes. Webb has also shared several recommendations for possible successors, and we feel there are magnificent possibilities right in our midst—stay tuned.”

Now in its 34th year, Southwestern College’s motto is Transforming Consciousness through Education. It is a graduate level institution that focuses on counseling and art therapy. Offering a holistic environment for learning, students undergo rigorous academic work that follows national standards for the Counseling and Art Therapy professions while also afforded opportunities for deeply meaningful interaction and sharing.
