Author of African American and multicultural paranormal, fantasy, and science fiction romance novels, N.D. Jones has launched her brand new book, “Bound Souls”. The book is set to go live March 11, 2017, in paperback, but is now available at all major online booksellers, in eBook format, and is expected to become a big hit with fans of the science fiction and fantasy romance world. This is the fifth book Jones has authored. The book was written with the aim in mind to generate thought about what it means to move on once a spouse has passed away. More, is there life after death? If so, what does that mean to one’s heart, soul, and mind?. There’s also particular excitement about this launch because “Bound Souls” is the first book in the author’s Forever Yours science fiction romance series, which is a departure from her Winged Warriors novella series and her Death and Destiny trilogy, both of which are paranormal romance for the mature reader.

“Bound Souls” sets its main focus on the transcendent love of Lela and Zion, who are bound souls, destined to live eternity together. For these lovers, death is not an end, but a fateful beginning. Readers will likely find a particular interest in that “Bound Souls” is a supernatural love triangle that tests the bounds of science, truth, and faith. The book’s cover art was created by Wycked Ink and “Bound Souls” is being released by Kuumba Publishing.

N.D. Jones has a background in high school social studies and professional development of K-12 teachers, administrators, and staff. The author’s background helped shape the creation of the book by inspiring her to develop three-dimensional and engaging characters of color set in a futuristic and metaphysical world. Black speculative fiction, the author noted, is not as widely seen in school libraries, particularly K-12 public schools where children, particularly children of color, seek images and examples of themselves in books of all genres.

When asked about why she wrote the book, Jones said: “Have you ever wondered why notable women like Coretta Scott King and Betty Shabazz never remarried after the death of their husband? What was life like for them, and so many other widows, who loved and lost? If they could reunite with their husband in the afterlife, would they? Would they want to spend eternity together?” These and other thought-provoking questions of life, death, and rebirth compelled the author to write “Bound Souls.”

Jones has hopes that the book will spark conversation between friends and family about the nature of married life, recovering from the loss of a loved one, and the difficulty of moving on and finding peace and happiness after the death of a beloved spouse.

The writing of the novel went smoothly, except at the end and with her editor. The editor, unfortunately, had several emergencies that delayed her review of Jones’ manuscript, which nearly forced the author to change her publication date and date of her new release book tour. Luckily, it all worked out and “Bound Souls” was released on February 11th in eBook format, as a free download to readers. For those who prefer the three-dimensional feel of a book, the paperback version of “Bound Souls” will be available at all major online booksellers on March 11, 2017.

In a recent interview, the author made a point of thanking her daughter for requesting a teen-friendly book she could donate to her high school library, as well as her deceased grandmother, whose long-lived life served as the basis for her character of Lela. Jones also went on to thank her husband and son for their continued support. “They are my cheerleaders, sounding boards, and biggest fans, in the best possible way–thoughtfully, constructively, consistently.”
